Punto Banco Principles

Baccarat banque is played with 8 decks of cards in a dealing shoe. Cards valued less than ten are counted at their printed number and with 10, J, Q, K are zero, and A is one. Bets are made on the ‘banker’, the ‘player’, or for a tie (these are not really people; they just represent the two hands to be dealt).

Two cards are given to both the ‘banker’ and ‘player’. The value for each hand is the total of the 2 cards, but the beginning number is ignored. For example, a hand of 5 and 6 has a score of one (5 plus six equals eleven; ditch the 1st ‘1′).

A third card might be given using the following rules:

- If the gambler or banker gets a score of eight or nine, the two players stand.

- If the gambler has five or less, he takes a card. Players otherwise hold.

- If the gambler stays, the banker hits on 5 or lower. If the player takes a card, a guide is employed to decide if the house stands or hits.

Punto Banco Odds

The better of the two totals wins. Winning wagers on the bank pay out 19:20 (even payout less a five percent rake. The Rake is kept track of and paid off once you depart the table so be sure to have money remaining just before you quit). Winning bets on the player pays out at 1 to 1. Winning wagers for a tie usually pays 8:1 but on occasion 9:1. (This is a poor wager as a tie occurs lower than 1 in every 10 rounds. Be cautious of gambling on a tie. Although odds are substantially greater for 9 to 1 vs. 8 to 1)

Gambled on properly baccarat provides pretty decent odds, aside from the tie bet of course.

Baccarat Strategy

As with all games Baccarat has a few accepted misconceptions. One of which is the same as a misunderstanding in roulette. The past is not an indicator of events about to happen. Keeping score of past outcomes on a sheet of paper is a bad use of paper and a snub to the tree that was cut down for our stationary needs.

The most common and definitely the most successful scheme is the one-three-two-six technique. This tactic is used to pump up earnings and limit risk.

Start by betting one unit. If you succeed, add 1 more to the 2 on the game table for a grand total of three units on the second bet. Should you succeed you will retain six on the table, subtract 4 so you are left with 2 on the 3rd wager. Should you succeed on the 3rd bet, deposit two on the 4 on the table for a sum total of six on the 4th round.

Should you don’t win on the initial round, you take a loss of one. A profit on the initial bet followed by a loss on the 2nd causes a loss of two. Success on the initial two with a defeat on the third provides you with a profit of two. And wins on the initial three with a defeat on the 4th means you break even. Winning all 4 wagers gives you with twelve, a profit of 10. This means you are able to give up the 2nd round five times for every favorable run of four wagers and still experience no loss.
