Baccarat Rules

Baccarat is played with 8 decks of cards in a shoe. Cards with less than a value of 10 are valued at face value while ten, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each given a value of 1. Bets are placed on the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual contenders; they only represent the two hands to be dealt).

Two hands of 2 cards will then be dealt to the ‘banker’ … ‘player’. The total for each hand will be the total of the 2 cards, but the very first digit is dumped. For example, a hand of seven and five has a tally of 2 (sevenplus5=twelve; drop the ‘one’).

A third card may be given out depending on the foll. standards:

- If the bettor or banker has a total of 8 or nine, each bettors stand.

- If the gambler has five or less, he hits. bettors stand otherwise.

- If player stands, the banker hits of five or lesser. If the bettor hits, a chart will be used to ascertain if the banker stands or hits.

Baccarat Odds

The greater of the 2 scores wins. Winning bets on the banker pay 19 to 20 (even money less a 5 percent commission. Commission is tracked and moved out when you leave the table so be sure to have cash still before you leave). Winning bets on the player pay one to 1. Winner bets for tie normally pays out at 8 to 1 but sometimes 9 to 1. (This is a terrible gamble as ties happen less than 1 every 10 hands. Definitely don’t try putting money on a tie. Even so odds are actually better – nine to one versus eight to one)

Played effectively, baccarat provides relatively good odds, aside from the tie bet ofcourse.

Baccarat Strategy

As with every games, Baccarat has some well-known myths. One of which is similar to a roulette myth. The past is not an actual indicator of future results. Tracking of historic results on a chart is a complete waste of paper as well as a slap in the face for the tree that gave its life to be used as our stationary.

The most popular and possibly most successful strategy is the one-three-2-six concept. This plan is deployed to maximize payout and lowering risk.

Begin by gambling one unit. If you win, add one more to the two on the table for a total of 3 on the second bet. If you win you will have six on the table, take away four so you have 2 on the 3rd gamble. If you win the 3rd gamble, add 2 to the four on the table for a sum total of 6 on the fourth wager.

If you don’t win on the first bet, you suck up a loss of 1. A win on the 1st bet followed up by loss on the 2nd creates a loss of two. Wins on the first 2 with a loss on the third gives you a profit of two. And wins on the first three with a loss on the 4th mean you breakeven. Winning at all four bets leaves you with 12, a profit of ten. This means that you can fail to win the 2nd bet 5 times for every successful streak of four bets and still break even.
